steering wheel replacement

It will fit, but i believe the airbag will not bolt up if it is the 3-spoke style. If it is the 4 spoke style, it will fit with your stock airbag.
I just replaced my steering wheel and it has mad such a difference. First disconnect the battery....then all you need to do is remove 4 torque wrench bolds (2 on each side of the steering wheel, under the plastic cover pieces to remove the airbag). From there, disconnect the airbag, and remove the 19mm bolt that holds on the steering wheel. You will need a steering wheel press to remove the actual wheel from the column. From there, just swap it out and reverse the process.
Best of luck to you and your replacement

1997 is the 4 spoke steering wheel. I think only 99-00 models had the 3 spoke wheel. And all SC3/4 airbags were single stage, so as long as the spoke style is the same, all airbags should work, too.
Oh, and do as above... don't forget to disconnect the battery or else you'll have the airbag warning light.

If the wheel has been replaced, and the air bag light is on, how can you get it off? I have an SC-300 and the previous owner replaced the sterring wheel with a 400 wheel (he did the same with the rear lights) and now the warning lights for both are on.
Any ideas?
