Default '96 FogLight Mod

This very simple mod allows the fogs to be on without the low beams being on...
Fogs are on anytime foglight switch is on and hi beams are not on...
Circuit is protected by foglight fuse...
There is no warning if left on...

FogLight Relay @ Driver's kickpanel (relay is located above the orange connector):

Wiring Harness (16GA wire / Connectors are RadioShack 64-3137):

Close Up of FogLight Relay Terminals:

Wiring Harness Installed @ FogLight Relay:

FogLight Relay w/ Harness Installed in Car:

nice diy, very clear, simple, and documented with practical pictures. this should also work for the 95 i believe since fog lights began during that year. very thorough job with specs too

Lightbulb Finally

Yeah man thanks a more clear way. Ive been bumpin a thread every now and then looking for answers and none was clear. im thinkin this should work for 95 and up right since p5 started fogs and then up to the newer style should have use same wiring and relay just different foglight housing and bumper.

i will be doing this when it warms up a little. while i installed my hid relays for my highs and lows. right now my fogs dont like to come on or come on one at a time. lol so thanks again dude. this will make alot happy. nice thread.

Just did this! works nicely.

The foglights come on whenever I flip the switch, even when the car is off!

The foglights still turn off when I turn on the high beams still, is there a way to keep them on when the high beams are on?

Isn't it supposed to be that way? When the high beam is on, the fogs will turn off.

SC300Star,
With this mod, can we still keep the OEM foglights setting? Can we still turn off the foglights when the low beam is on?

Yup, you can still turn it off. The fog lights become completely independent from the low beams. You can turn on and off whenever you want.

I've been wanting a way so that the fog lights DO NOT turn off when the high beams turn ON. There were a couple threads a while ago pertaining to just this subject but nobody figured out a way to do this. I do a lot of dark canyon driving where there are no lights and its pitch black. It would be nice to have a little bit more light.

I have a '95 and I just completed this mod tonight and I can definitely confirm that it does indeed work on those year model SC's. Will soon post pics of all the new and crazy lighting configurations I can now do...Thanks so much on this awesome DIY.

P.S Ha! It looks like those '92-'94 owners with their "Fake" foglight mod ain't got nothing on us! LOL!

For those of us that've done this mod, All that is left now, is for us to develope the habit of treating the foglights as a truly independent unit apart from the lowbeams...I just know some of us here will accidently leave our foglights on thinking that our lowbeams will still do it's job of automatically shutting our foglights off for us LOL!

Would it not be better if the power source came from the parking lights (foglight relay would get the power from pig-backng off the corner light fuse (with a second fuse for the relay), rather than the headlights as the OEM. This will not be as simple and clean as this mod, but would allow the foglights to be on with the parking lights (which I like the look of, anyway) but they should also be automatically turned off with the parking lights too when the door is opened with no key, and reduce the risk of forgetting fog lights off. , etc.

Right?
