If you're planning on big power mods down the road, go 2JZGE. If you'd like a sexy V8 exhaust note, good low-end torque and decent power for now, with huge power potential in the future (albeit with a smaller aftermarket), go 1UZ.

There is no best, it depends what you plans are for the car. For a nice daily driver w/ minimal mods, 98+ SC400. If you want to make a lot of power, 95 SC300 5spd.

You can't really go wrong with either.

With the 300 you can get a 5 speed. Do a turbo swap too.

With the 400 it's already a v8, its automatic though. If you get the later models they are faster than the older ones. If you just want your car to cruise get the 400 imo.

Really the 300 and 400 are both great in their own respects.

I had an sc300 and without mods it is way too slow. I wouldn't get one unless I planned to boost it. Then you're talking about a boatload of cash to make it run properly and reliable.
I say get the sc400 and call it a day.

to do a 1jz swap in a sc300 is not that much anymore. i think majority of people who get a sc have plans to go turbo.

Depends on what your plan is with your car. Mostly people say go with 300 if you're going all out with turbos. But recently I realized the potential with the v8's especially 1uz from 92-93 as internals are stornger than later v8's. If you like cruising with no plans for big power than either will be fine.
