mount the manifold and place the turbo on top of the flange. take a picture. i want to see how much room there is.

i am in the same situation right now except i knew full well that i will be machining my own adapter plate. only difference between us is im going to run a 1jzgte intake manifold so turbo hitting stock manifold will not be an issue for me.

take a picture and i can tell you or help you.

i can also make a flange that clocks the turbo a bit so it clears the distributor in case you run a large inlet pipe.

im doing the same thing here..idk if im going to do an adapter just yet or have a t3 flange welded on in place so i dont have to worry about clearance issues..

i really wish they would just make damn t3 manifolds the ONLY place ive seen them is on ebay from austraila and its 200+ and 200 for shipping here

T3 manifolds are difficult to find for the 2JZ, cause generally speaking, t3 flanged turbo's are too small for the 2J.

As for clearance, I would suggest just replacing the stock t4 flange with a t3 flange on the manifold, unless the adapter is 1/2'' tall or shorter. There is minimal room for clearance with the stock intake especially when using the XS or SSAC manifolds.

^ i dont think t3's are too small for the engine for a streetable enjoyable car with 300-400whp..definitely think t3 would be good in that range..at least i hope..most people tho buy a t4 thats pretty large that can handle 500-600whp because thats their "goal" ..id rather a super quick spool for driving around town vs something i wont see anytime in the near future..id love to have 600+whp but i wont go for that till after i get a built auto tranny ems and supporting fuel mods..so for now its small cheap low whp goals that ought to be a lot of fun to drive.

^^^that why I said "generally" too small. Some T3's are the perfect size for a quick spooling street turbo, but I was just saying that T4's are more commonly used due to the wider range of a/r choices to match the 2JZ, thus keeping 99% of the manifolds T4 flanged.

^ Very true just some people think it has to be t4 flanged cause 2jz's can make a bajillion whp just wanted to make sure we're on the same page and it seems like it

if you're using the ebay manifolds then you're gonna have to cut off the t4 flange and weld on the t3 flange or you can just weld the t3 flange right on top of the t4 flange if you have enought clearance.

^ looks like its a t4 that has holes tapped for t3 as well..which i was questioning doing as well instead of cutting/welding a new flange on.
