Default 1997 sc 300 buying advice

i m looking into buying a black / black 1997 sc 300 it about a 7 /10 exterior and interior but the only thing is the engine been rebuilt. ask the current owner why it got rebuilt but he doesn't know him self, as he never ask the last owner and no documentation of the rebuilt. is their things i should be looking out for?

also there aint many sc300 /400 for sale in my area, i have never drove one and thought the drive would be similar to 2nd gs 300 but it felt kinda slow for a v8 engine, even my parents 2007 v6 accord felt alot faster. kinda feel like a cursing car like the infiniti q45. beside being slow everything felt like the gs 400, nice, smooth and quite with that floaty feel.

so i was wondering how is the sc300 suppose to drive like?
is it suppose to feel slow?
or maybe the engine rebuilt has something to do with it and it lost some power due to a improper install / bad workmanship?

the guy is asking for 4,500 obo, 96,000 miles on rebulit engine 220,00 miles on body. timing belt, water pump, front struts / spring been replace, and few other small things.

what else should have been replace since the mileage on the car is very high?

thanks

There are many things that potentially need to be changed, rather why not wait for one that's not rebuilt but up and running flawlessly, you get what you pay for...why purchase something and wonder whether something will break, stop working ect. Can't really put the experience of owning/driving an 97 sc in words really, lets just say selling it is out of the question for now even after owning mine for almost 2 years. It's a luxurious pleasant experience and considered more mature than most imports if you have to ask, and i consider its performance very balanced and satisfying.

LOL at the infiniti remark, all that hydraulic suspension crap (I'm thinking of the right model I believe, the one you mentioned) an older bud of mine sold his for super cheap after the suspension crashed, he was going 2 miles/hour up his driveway then boom. Sold it to some gypsies. Next day he saw them at burger king, the little kids hopping their butts up and down on the corners to "re-inflate" the suspension temporarily, apparently they sold it for the price of one without any problems. Not a racist, these are just the points of the story.

Anyways, I personally would not go for that deal. Get a better one I say. SERIOUSLY, hear us out for your own sake, take a look at this and I dare you to tell me it's not worth the extra money for what you get, and this is not even a great deal, this guy is taking his time with the sale. You might even consider making a trip to get a better deal from a different area.

If you really want the rebuilt engine one, please dear lord talk him down.

it is better and i would if it was black and lived close by lol. i live up in calgary in canada , and these car dont show up often. been in the market for awhile, within a 350 miles radius, their only 5 for sale two claiming mint conditions stock 94 about 65,000 miles - 12,000 and a 97 65,000 miles for 9,000. yes im haggling down for sure! and if i get it for a good price and engine gives out, sawp it for a 1jz . if nothing works out just gonna move on until a good deal comes by.

with you on the waiting bit. My first SC was in a similar boat, and I should have waited. Instead I threw 3500 down the drain when the power steering, gauge cluster and air conditioning system all went within days of each other.

The SC should not feel anything like a GS on the road.... seriously.

Two different cars. My lowered GS430 rides ten times smoother than my stock (back when I got it) SC ever did.
