Default How to: Dyeing and Painting Interior, Interior Build Thread

My goal is to have a Black with a little bit of Ivory Interior.

There will be three different types of color change. Cloth - Leather - Plastic
Also I will be painting the Wood Trim the same as the new Engine Bay Paint, Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl. Build Thread Here

Fabric SEM Cost for 4: $47.39
Shipped Shipped

1. Clean with Upholstery Cleaner / Shampoo, Allow to Dry
2. 38353 SEM Plastic and Leather Prep, Spray Down(Do not Soak)
3. Scrub with Nylon Brush in all Directions, Allow To Dry
4. Vacuum
5. 15233 SEM Color Coat Gloss Black, Apply Coat and Brush with Nylon Brush
6. Repeat Until you are Satisfied
7.Once Dry Brush with Nylon Brush
8.Vacuum, Allow to sit for 24 Hours before use.

Leather
1. 39362 SEM Soap with a Gray Scotch Brite to clean surface then wipe up with a damp cloth till dry.
2. 38353 SEM Plastic and Leather Prep, spray on wipe off.
3. Scuff with a new Gray Scotch Brite
4. Rewash with 38353 SEM Plastic and Leather Prep, spray on wipe off.
5. 17093 SEM Classic Coat, Apply light coat wait 5 minutes.
6. 17093 SEM Classic Coat, Apply another light coat wait 5 minutes.
7. 17093 SEM Classic Coat, Apply Heavy coat wait 24 hours before using.

Plastic
1. Fill a Bowl with Hot Water and a little bit of Dish Soap.
2. Dip a Towel in the Soapy Water and wipe down plastic parts.
3. Wipe parts with a Dry Towel until Dry.
4. Scuff parts with a Red Scotch Brite or 240 grit Sand Paper.
5. With a Dry Towel wipe dust off of Parts.
6. 223717 Rust-Oleum Textured Plastic, Apply light coat wait 5 minutes.
7. 223717 Rust-Oleum Textured Plastic, Apply Heavy coat wait 10 minutes.
6. 223717 Rust-Oleum Textured Plastic, Apply light coat for a more textured finish, wait 1 hour before using.

EDIT: Since I resumed this i needed more dye, I found this awesome site selling it for 9 dollars! I ordered 3 and shipping was only 8 dollars.

Edit: I forgot to put in, I have Recaro Seats and I plan on re fabricing the rear seats to match the Recaro's.

SEM paint is the SCHITZEL.. Now lets see it installed.. You chose the same color for the seats as I did.

looks like you're doing a really good job. the previous owner of my car did it and did a horrible job. the door panels are broken, there are cracks in almost all of the small plastic parts, and he didnt even do the top of the dash... so i have a mostly black interior but still has scratched wood trip and a tan dash...

Previously when i used the paint on a old beater i just sprayed it on with no prep and i was impressed, the only way is chiped is when installation and it was hit by another panel.

Recaros are very nice but finding the right brackets is such a paint, try corbeau. They have bottom and side mounts where Recaros only have side mounts.
