Default My poor baby and my new one!

Got in an accident with my 95 SC4. Was out of commission for a lil bit but I was able to repair all the mechanicals and there was no damage to the subframe. Drove like new again but still didn't have the body work done. My dad is friends with a guy that owns a body shop just a few blocks from my house. I talked to him and he said I could do most of the work myself at his shop and he would just assist with what I couldn't do. He started before I was able to get some time off of work and did a little pulling on the wheel well. I did most of the rest. Pounded out and smoothed out the wheel well, cut all the old quarter off, removed the new quarter from the quarter of a car they sent me, and started doing some of the final fitting/cutting but ran out of days off and left it to him. He had it all fitted and welded except the last 2 spot welds, when the welding blanket caught on fire and totaled my car! The blanket got the body wiring, fp ecu, headliner, visors, light fixture, sun roof cover and part of the seals, both trim pieces around the doors, front seats, and part of the carpet.

His insurance covered it and I got a good price for mine. But doesn't make up for all the hard work I did and time off of work. Of course I wanted another SC. The one I found closest to me was 6hrs away. I went and bought it the day after I got the insurance check. Ended spending a lot out of pocket to replace it, but well worth it! It's a 98 SC3 and my favor color!

I do have almost all of the rear and trunk interior along with a few other salvageable parts out of my old car and for sale in the classifieds:

That really sucks, pretty sure welding blankets cannot catch fire. I would have to guess the "blanket" wasn't right for the job.
Enjoy your new wheels!

As you can see in one pic, it is a white blanket on my seat that caught fire. For sure not a welding blanket. And yes, it was a lot of work. Between the 2 quarters, I bet I drilled out at least 150-200 spot welds. My regular job is an office job, so my hands weren't used to it. I had blisters for a week or so!

My plans for the new ride are the BFI in the next few weeks. Then to replace all the bushings, probably poly everywhere(rack, diff, sub frame, CA's). Then just lil mechanical things, timing belt, wp, all seals(motor), brake upgrade. Undecided about putting on my rain guards and/or roof spoiler. Might wait to re-paint the car first and color match them. Probably put her away in a couple years to start the body work for her new diamond white w/ PURPLE pearl paint job.

She's sitting on 18x8/18x9's and Tanabe lowering springs with new OEM struts now. Thanks to raine's stereo guide, I have my aftermarket HU running my stock speakers(sounds great). I upgraded all interior, trunk, and day time lights to LED and HID headlights. All stock other than that.
