Default New Generation SC

What's the scoop on the next generation SC? When is it comming out?

The currenet style's been around since 2002 so it's about due for a redesign right?

Been discussed a few times here. No word on a replacement if there will be one. Nothing more than speculation at this point.

The first Gen SC lasted from 92-00... at that rate there is still a few more years to go

From all signs, speculations and observations.......Lexus is not planning a direct replacement for the current SC, it will just be discontinue in the near future.

As far as convertible goes, Lexus will have the much higher market LF-A roadster ($150k+), and a much lower market 3-series/A4 competitor, IS convertible (~$45k+).

All speculation and nothing confirmed or any sightings yet. Lexus is very tight lipped.

Just by following Lexus patterns; the SC 430 could become the SC 460 just like the GS 430 becoming the GS 460. Most like the SC 460 will have a redesigned body. Have the L-Finesse design theme and a push button start/stop feature. The first generation SC 300/400 was around for a long time. The second generation SC 430 will be around just as long. Hopefully the SC 460 will be amazing and will take on the likes of the BMW 6 Series and MB SL 550, 5.5L V8...

Having just had the opportunity to get behind the wheel of an IS-F, if only for a short while, I really hope that they do an SC-F.

That 8-speed sequential manual transmission is incredible...as is the howl of the engine! But, only when you romp on it. I think it still has the refinement that the SC430 has (or some would say "had").

On second thought, since they're going to have the IS convertible coming out soon (supposedly), they should keep the "luxury tourer" style of the SC going...but adding horsepower wouldn't hurt!

well you could look at it that way....

but the LF-A looks like will cost twice as much as the currect SC430, I am seeing it as most people who can afford a SC430 today don't have the budget to get into a LF-A.

The LF-A is up at the entry level Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin price range, it is a whole other league, another few levels up. Definitely not a daily driver for regular working folks type of cars. I sure can't afford to daily drive on carbon ceramic brake rotors!

No info for 2010 yet.

I doubt that the SC will survive after '09, but that's what everyone said in '07 about the MY'08...

lexus really needs a bmw 6 series killer.

but with gas prices, these cares are going to become useless.

These cars often are not mainly for "use", it's for style, fun & excess

The Lexus SC will be around for a long time to come just as the Mercedes SL has been around for a long time. The BMW 6 series started a long time ago then took a long hiatus and is now back.

Why do many people think the SC is going to be discontinued? Is it because of the long cycle runs? Is it because it doesn't sell in droves? Is it because it doesn't look good? Looks are very subjective. Maybe another reason is that it's underpowered compared to the competition? Maybe it costs too much? Or maybe it's just that people don't understand the SC?

Lexus did discontinue the SC 300 which was sad but Lexus replaced it with the GS 400. The SC is unique and it's the only coupe from Lexus currently. Yes, we know that the IS coupe is coming but it's going to smaller and priced lower than the SC. Lexus can have an entry level coupe such as the IS coupe, a mid-level coupe such as the SC and then the all out sports exotic such as the LF-A (top-of-the-line).

Only time will tell if the SC will be around or discontinued. The saga continues...stay tuned...

Well put and well said... I specifically bought my '08 SC430 because I have loved the lines of this car since it came out. It reminds me of the classic Porsche 356 (which a buddy of mine had). I think the 356 had about a 15 year run (1950-1965)

Long live this modern classic!
