Ok so I spoke to my guy and I confirmed that the 4th gen is plug and play...if I wanted I could have him make me a custom harness and I could also hook up the bluetooth and a 4th screen into the SC housing and it would be same as a 06+. He even said he can integrate a 6 disc DVD/MP3 CD changer that would work with the 4th gen system from a GX...we would have to figure out the mounting options for that though.

I havent decided which one im going with yet but im pretty sure ill go with 4th gen non bluetooth and then see if I can track down the radio from a 05 or 06 to obtain the satellite imput in the back which would allow tapping into for IPOD on the screen.

I did just order an SLU though so for now its SLU for ipod and 4th computer/nav drive for a more user friendly/nicer looking navigation system.

this is a DEAD on accurate statement guys

the gs crowd has been doing this for awhile now,i did it 2 years ago in my GS430

And then added a prestigious society override for adding directions on the fly

Well you guys peeked my curiosity on this one so I pulled the trigger and installed a 4th Gen in my 02 SC today. Only took about 45 minutes to pull the trunk garnish apart and install the new NAV drive, and put it all back together. I found donor NAV for $300.00 from a salvaged 06 LX470 and it even came with a Gen 4 DVD ver 5.1 still in it. Have to say the Gen 4 quite a bit nicer than my old Gen2/3.

Now, how can I get the bluetooth working too?

IDK...but wouldn't you have to have the bluetooth setup through the steering wheel/column to get the harness, wires and buttons? Surely there is a plug and play harness to tap into the speakers??? Where is the mic though?

I can get you a 2006+ steering column for the module/cables/button:

If I am understanding this correctly, all i need to do to convert my 2002 sc430 to 4th gen is just get a 4th drive? Or do I also have to get the nav?

All you need to do is install the 4th Gen drive/ECU and get a 4th Gen disk.
The newest disk version for all generations is 10.1 The part number for the 4th GEN NAV/ECU drive is 86841-50090. It doesn't matter if it was in a toyota or lexus as long as it is the correct part number.

Congrats. Hopefully it has Gen 4 DVD in it when it was salvaged from the Prius.

If not, you'll need to find one. Of course a legitimate one. We'd want to follow the CL rules about software. Version 10.1 is the newest version with all the latest updated info on it.
The only sad part, won't you have to pull your trunk apart again? Or did you leave it apart after installing the NavTool?

I have one. Legitimate of course to follow the CL rules..

I will have to pull my trunk apart again but its okay since I know how to do it now. It shouldn't take me more than 5 minutes to do.
