Viagrunt! SC430 Power Antenna Erection Goes Limp
Logic suggests that the power antenna on an SC430 would be fully retracted when playing a CD. Unfortunately, that logic was just emasculated by an automatic car wash. Ohhh, the pain!
This raises a question which I'm hoping will justify an extended warranty claim:
► Is the power antenna on your SC430 RAISED or RETRACTED when you are listening to a CD? (If you're not sure, perhaps you can check.)
Your responses, including model year, will be appreciated.
Thanks.

It depends if you have the button pushed that shows words on your stereo deck. I forgot what the button is called, but when it is on and you are listening to the radio, it shows the station's title and the song title running across the led screen thing. If that is on, the antenna will not go down even when you put the CD mode on. You have to press and hold it and hear a beep and it will go off, then the antenna will go down on CD mode.
I know I explained this very crappy, I'm just not around my car to see exactly what the button is.

husker741,
I believe you're speaking of the "RDS" button. And you're correct.
With RDS enabled, the antenna is up when the stereo is on...regardless of the input selected. If you want the antenna up ONLY when listening to the radio, turn the RDS off (by pressing the RDS button and holding until it beeps.
