Hello to all. I just purchased my first Lexus. A 2002 sc430.

I've been reading the posts on this forum, a wealth of information. Much appreciated.

Looking forward to a nice ride.

Default New sc430 owner.......200miles later

Purchased & installed 4 Blizzak tires & wheels from TireRack.
Purchased a Continental Tire Inflator.

Purchased & installed a set of clear, floor mats from EXACTmats.
Next up, Bluetooth, iPhone connector .

First impressions:
I do not like the run-flats. lousy ride. I’ll probably change-over in the spring.
I was surprised how heavy the original wheel/tire set-up is.
Plenty of torque. I like 3rd gear for on ramps. (Glad that it came with a Valentine1 radar detector installed.)

The cupholders are pretty much useless.

All in all, a very nice car.

Oh, I almost forgot. What a great forum. I learned quite a bit in the last couple of weeks.
Thanks to all that have gone before.

I used to run Blizzaks with an old set of Tire Rack rims from a previous SC430 owner. - 5 spokes like yours. Ride was definitely better on the Blizzaks than on my old RFTs. Now running Falken Eurowinter on OEM rims and you are right, the OEM rims are heavy. And RFT's make them even heavier. And like you I will get a new set in spring but I'll be going aftermarket and leaving the winter tires on the OEM rims.

I've got Exactmats just like yours. They work well but since mine are about 6 years old, there is some yellowing with age and dirt accumulation.

For the cupholders, try not to have drinks in there that do not have a spill proof cap cos in a hard turn, it will tip over. Or just have your passenger steady the drink when you turn - LOL. Yes you are right, inferior cup holders not doing their job right.

All the best with your new to you ESP/Ecru. Happy Holidays.

Not really. They're sized for a 12oz can. Works great for soda - won't fall over or spill. Anything taller or narrower in diameter has a center of gravity that's too high so it will tip over. I just stopped using 20oz bottles and went to 12oz cans.

You can also try a Mighty Mug. It's got some funky flexy disc on the bottom that allows it to be picked straight up but won't tilt/push over. You can take it with you to the office and it won't tip over on your desk if you accidentally knock it.

Jim, thanks for the info. I normally have a cup of coffee working while driving. I'll give it a try.

Default Welcome

to the Club Lexus Forum -

Congrats on the new purchase and upgrade. I have that color in a Motormax model where tomtop actually fold down next to the silver convertable model.

Another tip I've seen on the forum is to use velcro on the bottom of your car coffee cup - works great and some places give youna discount for using your worn cup ...
