I don't know what your talking about. But the shifters are the same. One is a 97 and the other is a 94, the 97 fit perfectly into my 94 SC. Your probably referring to the gated 98-up shifters. Do a search in the forum for that, you'll get ya answer.

For the MANUAL tranny's, the way the shift lever mounts to the shift linkage changed in '95. Pre '95 it was a ball type mount, 95 and up is attached with a bolt. I know this for sure from having them both. If your '97 shifter fits your '94 tranny, you may just have a very late-in-the-model-year '94 that has the '95 linkage.

Of course if you're talking about automatics, that's a horse of different color

You didn't specify manual or auto, so when you said "shift lever", I thought "manual"...
