Talking Bought It

Paid for a set of the frosted ones (krazyaper4u@yahoo.com)
Question: Do we get instructions for the procedure?
And do we dremel off the stock lens?

I gave instructions throughout this thread. It's fairly straightforward with a dremel.

If you don't have a dremel or, if like me, your dremel died on you, , try this...

Put on safety glasses. Take a thick drill bit and drill a hole straight through the orange lense. Take a pair of wire cutters and start cutting/chipping away at the orange reflector. The pieces will fly everywhere, and will definitely take out one of your eyes! When you get to the edges of the sidemarker, be more careful that you don't take off a chunk of the gray backing piece with it. The adhesive binding it is very strong. Once the majority of the reflector is gone, start trimming away the little chunks stuck on the edges. you can sand away the rest if you plan on repainting them. To seal the cover, do not use hot glue or anything like that. Buy clear adhesive silicone in a tube and line the edges around the sidemarker+cover sandwich. Don't sandwich the adhesive between the cover and sidemarker...that's just tacky. Give a good 24 hours to cure fully.

Okey dokey...

I installed the light smoked covers tonight, here are some pictures and a little write-up on how I did it.

First you gotta remove the stock bumper lights. To do this you take off the inner fender, and reach behind the bumper light with a 8mm deep socket to take the 2 nuts off. Once you have the lights out you have to remove the factory orange cover/reflector. I first thought I would try to use a heat gun to melt the glue, and pry it apart.... no go... Stick to other methods. Here I am dremeling the cover off...

Once you are done dremel-ing around the edges, you pry that ***** stock lens off.

I had some orange lens left behind so I took a sanding wheel and made quick work of that...

I finished up with some fine sand paper to get all the surfaces and edges nice and smoothe.

Then I cleaned the housings using Dupont Wash n' Wipe(there are many different cleaners you can use) and sprayed a couple coats of Chrome paint on them.

Then while holding the new lens in place I put a very clean bead of clear silicon around the edge of the light. Clean up any excess.

I actually very lightly clamped the units while the silicon was setting, although you could probably just put the light face down on a cloth, and put something with some weight sitting on it.

Let the silicon set for a little while, then re-install the lights and voila! Custom bumper light goodness!

Thanks so much Rich! you da man!! Lol about 10 minutes after I finished the install I decided that I want to use the frosted covers instead. I will leave that for another day.
