Question Looking for SC300

I'm looking for a clean SC300 (auto) for my sister-in-law.....I don't know the car very well, are there any common problems to look for in the mid '90s? Any years less problematic than others? We're looking to spend $8-10K.

Thanks in advance !

Thanks, but I'm more interested in learning about the car vs. finding one....naturally I'll be using the local paper as well as www.autotrader.com

I agree that your best bet would be a local paper/car lot or autotrader.com I'm new here but from what I've learned, the only problems common in SC300/400s are the lights on the needles on the spedometer/tachometer tend to go out and the lower control arm bushings are usually worn on high miled cars.

If you do a search then you'll probably find your answers, and you'll also get a better response if you post in the SC300 discussion section of the forums.

you may even want to try ebay.
Common issues include:
cracking in the door panels,
Gauge cluster needles buring out
Door hinges sagging due to heavy weight of doors (some doors sag so much they catch the fender)
Power antenna getting stuck
Lower control arm bushings.

other than the engine is bulletproof and i've never really heard of any mechanical issues with these cars. they should go 250k+ miles no problem.
