Default A part of door opening mechanism.

I can't open the driver's side door from the outside because of the part pictured below broken.
I don't have the part number, but it is located all the way at the back of the door near the door lock. It is hidden behind the door frame. There are two of these but different in shape: one for the outside door handle and the other for inside door. I need the one that connects to the upper cable I think. It is a rod that connects to the cable that connects to the outside door handle (sorry about the sentence).

Does anybody have this piece that they can sell? I need to know by tomorrow morning.
Thank you all.

you will most likely need to buy the entire mechanism. it runs about 200 or so.

Hey man,

The exact same thing happened to me!! I eventually got one for $100 but it took a lot of patience. Really sucks having to go through the passenger side to open the drivers door - or else leave the drivers side window down!!

How did u remove it from teh car? I have the 3 torx bolts taken out but am having problems getting the rest out - or did urs just break and fall out?

It is called the drivers door lock mechanism if u wana search it.

Good luck,

Peace,
jonny

it just broke and fell off...

This was according to a stereo shop employee who destroyed my bumper today.

you need to remove the silver screw on the window frame rail, its a tough screw to get out. once you remove it, the frame will move, so you can get the assembly out.

Gazi,

I don't suppose you have a picture of the screw or its whereabouts, or else more info on exctly where it is. While I have my car apart I want to get my new one in there, but I haven't worked out how to do it and I am scared of breaking the rod again!!

Thx man,
Jonny

Chrono,

U know if u really can't find the part for a decent price, u can tack-weld it. It is a metal piece and shouldn't be too difficult to do. Hell, u could probably get away with a JB Weld!!

I replaced my door lock mechanism today which was going great until I tried to get the door lock rod back in its hole and I couldn't get it.

Drove me insane!!

Let me know if u need me to take pictures of the install to make it a little easier for you,

Peace,
JOnny

I thought about just welding it on too. But the bodyshop people didn't recommend it for it is a very thin piece and a weld wouldn't hold too long.

If you put enough JB weld on it it would no longer be very thin. Just as long as it can still move in a circular motion that it doesn't matter how much JB you put on there.

Well, I guess if u have the money then save yourself the time, but if not it is worth a shot.

Good luck with whatever u decide!

Peace,
Jonny
