I live in the Dallas area and my tranny went out about 2mo ago. Took it to a shop (not a lexus dealer) that I thought I trusted but Iam having doubts .
I was quoted 1950.00 just to rebuild the auto /trans it seems high to me but dont know anyone else I could trust or know of ..
Does anyone have some advice for this car-less, falling further in depression guy in Dallas. I would like to up grade the TC while Iam replacing the tranny .. any advice on where to go what company to use and type of tc to look for . would be greatly appreciated .......

Is it the same tranny that comes in the GS400? If so, I have one that is in perfect condition I will sell you. I did a tranny conversion on my car, so I am not using it.
Check to see if its the same and let me know, the price would be much much lower than what your being quoted.

Try contacting CL members "aliga" or "R&J Dist." and see what they have, I KNOW it'll be much cheaper than the price you were quoted from this shop...and to tell you the truth no one rebuilds these transmissions, it's just too expensive. It's much cheaper to find another used tranny and swap it in. Good luck bro, don't let it get you down!

I'm parting out a 92 SC400 right now:

I've got someone interested in the motor but not the trans. It is in great condition, shifts perfectly, 225K on it, not sure if its ever been rebuilt. If you're interested PM me. I'd sell it for $300 plus shipping (I can strap it to a pallet and would most likely have to be freighted).
