It is made out of Fiberglass.

maybe a stupid question but....

when you put on the front fenders, do you retain the factory splash guards or is there something else?

I doubt factory fender liners (black plastic pieces) goes on there like stock fenders, since it is 50mm wider, but you never know. The kit did not come with any liners for the front fender.
