Yea that's ridiculous to say the least. I'm reaching the point where I think I'm just going to take it to an upholstery shop and have them re-do it in black. It's just getting down right ridiculous for this one piece and it's like finding a needle in a haystack here on the forum.

98+ gated shifter assembly has been as low as 180 but if your not into wiring that may not be the best option. There is no way the upholstery shop will charge that much for re doing the shifter right?
I'm really going to look into this man and see what it would cost. We are going to get this problem solved soon....haha.

Just go to a shop and get a quote dude, it'll probably cost you less than $100. Also, black is pretty easy to match, unlike the tan on my old car.

I paid around $150 for both the steering wheel and the shifter on an old LS400 I owned about 4 years ago. Here's the pic:

Too bad my tan one cracked to pieces and so did the cheap aftermarket one I got. Else I'd take it apart and see if I can SEMS dye it. Thing works great and so far my panels have come out looking nice.
Wonder if it's worth the trouble to buy 1 more tan one and dye it. Really hate the OEM length of it, size really doesn't do it favor in this case...
