List of costs when importing a JDM car:
1) price of car
2) export tax
3) shipping (insurance optional)
4) import tax
5) brokerage fee's
6) legalization of the vehicle after it arrives in the US
Hopefully this will help anyone considering importing there own JDM car, generally it is about 2 to 2.5 times the price of a US spec car.

JDM,
Well, from your calcs you should be expecting around 10k US dollars. Correct?
A 92 JDM Soarer V8 will cost around 2,500-3500 US dollars. right? then add all of your export/import fees.
Most 10 year old JDM cars have plenty of surface rust or corrosion from all the salt water and air. I would need well documented proof of condition to go anywhere over 10k bid to start.

This car has absolutely no rust on it anywhere. And for a 92' it has very low mileage(approx 60K). Legalizing a JDM car is not cheap, prices range from 6K for an average vehicle to 25K for a Skyline GTR. I'll post pics as soon as possible.

Sc4oo,
Please do some research on selling prices in Japan. A 92 Soarer is not a wanted item...most are just cut up and sold for parts. Why do you think we are seeing a influx of 1jzgte 1/2 cuts here in the US?
JDM,
If this is a clean unit then it could command a few thousand extra. But, its really just a US model with the same engine. Yeah, it may have the air suspension...kinda cool.
Now, if you found a clean Soarer with the 1jz engine you could get top dollar. But, I dont think that 1jz would pass emission very easily. Yes, I do agree with your estimates to convert a JDM car to US spec.
Keep us informed.
