This is just one gear? Not two?

Just one gear. It was originally going on an IS300 so only one was required

I agree, I was about to jump all over this if it was for 2 of them. Looks like regular price to me.

On most sites they don't have best offer or include shipping. Thanks and average price is around 165up.

which version is this? I remember the earlier version the teeth would loose height due to the timing belt all because the material used was weak..

The newer version has a chrome plating around the teeth of it, this looks to be the older version. Just a guess though I didn't confirm.

To confirm this is the older version. I did put the part number in the description for that reason. Yes some of the older versions would wear the teeth on the belts and some wouldn't. It didn't happen on every single gear. The newer hks version has been modified for better belt wear.

Checking the belt can help regularly with this issue as well, the thread wasn't open when i searched SF but someone also said something about dirt getting in from the cover being exposed? Newer versions are nickel plated to correct myself.

Debris is also another issue. As well as improper tension on the belt.

Here is the description and part number for the newer style gear.

HKS Adjustable Cam Gears 2JZGTE Lexus IS300 2001-2003 2JZ/1JZ

22004-AT003 LEXUS IS300 2001-2003 ; Full Duralumin w/Nickle Plated Gear Teeth, Exh Gear only for VVTi models - Engine Code: 2JZGE

HKS Adjustable Cam Gears allow for fine tune adjustments to cam timing to maximize engine performance and tailor power characteristics for various driving conditions. Either with OEM or HKS Camshafts, adjustments can be made to tune an engine’s powerband to an optimum RPM range for a particular application. By using a Vernier scale, a valve timing adjustment tool that uses sub scale, a more accurate adjustment is possible because it provides the crank angle in 0.2° increments. HKS cam gears are constructed of anodized precision-machined aluminum plates and incorporate laser-etched indexes in 2° intervals. The full aluminum versions of the HKS Cam Gears are constructed completely of aluminum (except for the bolts), thereby reducing overall weight and resulting in decreased friction loss and greater precision timing. Precise valve timing can be adjusted and set within the range of ± 20° in 2° intervals by referring to the laser-etched degree indexes and the “A”
(advance) and “R” (retard) directional etchings on the cam gear face.

Cam gear still for sale
