you would have to save a siginficant amount to want to go through all that, and it will still be a bulky box that is being sent, so that price on top of his $60 to ship to the US. I would convince the guy to get you a real shipping quote and not "guestimate" it, or ask if you can arrange shipping and have it picked up.
