I'm pretty sure Lexus stopped the 5 MT option in 1997. So you're out of luck if you want a 99.

The cars are rare and you may need to go back a few years. I picked up a 93 with 5 MT.

Only about 5% of all SC3's came with the 5 MT. From what I hear, they fetch a premium.

1997 was the last year for the 5 speed. generally, a 5 speed will cost as much or a little more than a comparable sc400.

'97 5spd (only year w/ stick and latest redesign) are at a super premium, believe me - i know. because i searched across the country for nearly 2 years b4 landing mine.

there's only about 2000 cars produced that year GLOBALLY and 5% is only 100 5spd cars

out of that and those that are still alive and well, pick out the color you want and u r down to just a measly few. good luck cuz u'll need it (and prepare to take out your wallet).

p.s. i bought mine (blk - mint and fully loaded) 14 months ago for $25k (certified). i received $20k-22k offers now but not budging cuz it's just too hard to come by.

Actually, I got my 93 5-MT for a very good price. $6000. Mileage was high, but it's in incredible condition. The dealer was quick to make a deal. The salesguy told me that the car's been sitting in the lot for months and no one is interested in an MT Lexus.

So I jumped on that one. Even if it only lasts me 3 years, it's totally worth it. Hell, one year depreciation for a new one is greater than $6K.

I'll be honest, it's a thrill to drive. Don't limit your search to a 97. You can snag an older model in fantastic condition if you look around enough. I saw a 95 5-MT with 100K miles offered for $10K. Not too shabby.

diff strokes for diff folks. i didn't want an older car (having had a high mileage Legend previously). newer, lower mileage car just felt different... even though the Legend drove w/out a problem.
also, while the dealer said no one wanted a MT lexus, it was also probably the high mileage that turns buyers away.
also, how come it lasted only 3 years for u?

Nah, nah. I just got it. I'm saying, I'll be happy if it lasts three years. I was thinking of picking up a 99 or 2000 BMW 323, but my wallet wasn't too comfortable shelling out that kind of loot, or being tied down in debt for 5 years.

I like the 93 MT, drove incredible, and while the mileage is high, it's a Lexus. The price was right and I don't owe any money now.

I'll definitely upgrade in a few years. Maybe a 98 GS300 or something. But I really like the MT. Not sure I can go back to AT.

I looked for a 97 SC300 5speed or 93-95 Acura Legend Coupe 6 Speed. It took a year but last March, I found a 97 dark green 5 speed with 63K miles in great shape.

You may think buying from an individual would be cheeper, but I found Lexus and used car dealers did not know what to do with the car and got it for less than kelly Blue Book for an auto.

now, how much did u end up spending?

a dark green 5spd 97 is VERY rare, i dont think i've ever seen one.
no offense though but it's also probably my least fav color of the bunch

20k sounds about right (higher than most '97's)

how much mileage? condition? someone should jump at it

Took me 4 months to find my '95 5-speed in another state. Only 43K miles on it; bought it for $16.5k.
