desperately in search of a 10" free air sub for SC4
I posted this in the electronics section, but thought it'd be better here since the depth of the sub is crucial.
I am desperately searching for a 10" free air sub (non stock, mid-high end) that will fit in the rear deck of SC400 without major modification. Been told IB4 is the best, but nowhere to find it.
Thank you.

I used an Image Dynamics IDQ10 which I was told by their techs works very well in a free air application. It is a dual voice coil speaker that can handle tons more power than the IB4. I can honestly tell you the speaker sounds amazingly clear and crisp but still booms when needed.

is the ib4 a lot better than the pioneer? i have the pioneer and i'm not 100% happy with it. i'm not sure if it's because it's a free air sub or if the pioneer just doesn't sound as loud.
btw, i bought my pioneer free air sub for like $50 last year from a vendor that i found on yahoo. so try that.

here how
heres how i did mine, you can use almost any freeair sub you choose.
you take out your stock speaker, and gut out the stock speaker with a hacksaw till there is only a ring, then you file out the inside so that your new speaker will fit snuggly in it. add a lil sealent, and drop back in, everything fits fine, the only thing you do do is be sure the magnet willnot hit the gast tank, i used a JL 10" myself.

amp
some people say you cant use your stock amp if you have the nakamichi system, thats not true, i used my stock amp to test this theory, and it worked, the JL with stock amp sounded lil better, but i used an alpine V12 for my JL, sounds good, i might add in 12" on the side of the trunk.

A few questions.........
To Ali SC4 and or do-luck sc: About these IB4’s??? How good are they, also can I hook it up to my stock amp (I have the pioneer amp).... and it is alot better then the stock sub I have now??
To Manaray: Infiniti Kappa Perfect 10" sub... I hear Infiniti Kappa is very nice, If I was looking into this where would be a good place for me to pick one up at? Also will it fit as SC300T stated with it maybe being too DEEP???
To anyone: How hard would it be to upgrade my amp from the stock pioneer one I have now and also what amp would you recommend?? I want to keep my stock Head Unit.............. Can I just replace the amps or do I need to rerun wires from the battery???
Anyone who can help please let me know
Thank you all for your time.........

Shawn,
The IB4's are made by JL Audio. From what I hear a great speaker rated at 100 or 150 watts I think.
The Speaker I was talking about was the IDQ10, which is made by Image Dynamics and can handle up to 500 watts since its a dual voice coil speaker. This is the setup I have and it is not possible to run this woofer with the stock amp. As for an aftermarket amp you can go with just about anything you like. For this particular speaker I'd stick to a name brand amp pushing about 400watts and you will have more bass than you can imagine, multiples more than stock.
