Default HVAC and temperature oddities

Hey all,

I've had Scarlett for 2 years now, and loving every minute of it. LOML and I have put >20,000 miles on her in that time. Contrast that with the S2000 that I had for 9 years and put.... 20,000 miles. Definitely different usage profiles.

Anyway, one of the curious things about Scarlett is the temperature control, or lack thereof.
  1. With the system on normal auto, but the AC turned off, the air coming out of the dash vents is appreciably warmer than the outside air. My infra red thermometer says ~8 degrees.
  2. The difference in temperature in the car between heat and AC mode is significant. Typically I run the the temperature at 78 (or higher) when in AC mode, and 70 in heater mode which gives about the same temperature inside the car.
Is this what others experience? I have heard the odd servo chattering from time to time, but honestly it's been isolated.

Thanks for any thoughts you can provide.

It sounds like your air blend motor is not working right and you are getting air coming over your heater core, instead of just outside air

Chris, I never did it on my SC. I did it on my IS once.

Because of that I don't feel comfortable telling you that is the problem and whether that is is the right actuator

You may want to have a helper listen to the passenger side dash and see if they hear clicking when you push the different HVAC buttons. Then do the same thing to the Driver's side.
