If you did, maybe explain the reason you did. Did you buy it through the selling dealer or a third party company. If the latter, which one?

I bought an extended warranty after I bought my car a couple of years ago. The reason I did was because the car was 11 years old, with over 90k miles, and I could get an extended warranty for up to 15yrs and 150k miles. Mine is not third party and is provided by Lexus UK, and includes UK and European recovery services.

Bought mine at the time I purchased the SC for the fear of the roof failure. I never had a chance to use it. Just the waste of money.

I did not buy it for SC however I did buy it for our 2010 LS460L when it came off lease with 19K on the clock back in 2014. It was a 6 year plan. The LS now 13 years old and 9 plus years after buying it now with 107,384 miles on it. We never used a dime of the extended warranty. It's a Lexus and it was a waste of good money.

That's how I see it with new cars, especially something like a Lexus. Used cars are more of a risk, so I tend to consider it as part of the overall cost of the car, and try to buy at an amount where I think the price of the car plus the price of the warranty adds up to what I think is reasonable value for the car.

OP, I am an NJ SC owner like you. My experience with extended warrantees is different than many other SC owners. But mine is a historical case - purchased the SC off lease in 2008, got the extended warranty to add about 3-4 years to the original factory 4 yr 50k miles through Toyota Financial Svcs so it was what people sometimes call a "factory extension" cos Lexus backs it, not a third party insurance company. Had the following fixed under the extended warranty over time. 2 rear shock absorbers, headlight leveling sensor, two O2 sensors, drivers seat heater wiring with re-upholstery of the whole drivers seat leather cos they took apart the whole seat to fix it. Plus a few other smaller things. It was totally worth it. I still consider my SC a reliable car mechanically and it has had only regular wear and tear type issues needed since the extended warranty ran out in like 2015 or so. IMO the only reason to get an even more extended warranty than this is if you fear the top mechanism will fail. Touch wood I have been fine there. You do not need to pay the selling dealer for an extended warranty, you can simply shop around with your VIN in hand to see who gives you the best price for the coverage you want. My recent purchase earlier this year was a CPO MBZ. Selling dealer in Florida, dealer who sold me the extended warranty was in Kentucky. Saved about 35% on the warranty pricing by going with the dealer in KY.
