Windows, Doorlocks, Fuel Door, Top & Trunk Opening Not Working
After finishing the engine rear main seal job, totally unrelated, the door locks quit working, windows (drivers window & passenger window would work only from the respective controls, drivers door control could not open the passenger door window), interior light would not come on with door opening, alarm system not working, top was not working, trunk and fuel door were not working and the door mirrors were not working. Checked all the fuses all good, so not a power problem. Hooked up the TIS scanner and no codes, but I was able to open the trunk and fuel door with the scanner and turn on the interior lights. I was however unable to communicate with the gateway computer. So I order a savage gateway computer from ebay (part # 89111-24010 part number on ******* 89100-24010), install it and now everything is working again. The shop manual says to remove the dash to get to the gateway computer, but if you have good dexterity you can do it by removing the glove box. The gateway computer is above the glove box mounted under the dash:
Repair cost time + ~$22 for the part delivered.

I'm not sure what the Lexus dealer would charge, but my guess would be $1000 -$1500. Service manual procedure removes the dash. New part cost around $280 from Lexus.

What did you do to fry the computer? It just doesn’t just die.

I don't know what fried the computer, old age (22 year old component). Looking at the board, there was a 100uf @ 16 volt electrolytic capacitor that was deformed and bulging. It could of been a cascading failure from there. The first symptom I noticed was the trunk and fuel door would not open with the dash switch, but the trunk would open with the key, then later the key would no longer open the trunk. It seemed to be progressively getting worse.

GmanSC,
I was thinking about other things that might have caused the gateway computer to fail. Back in April (2023), I had the alternator fail and went through 2 aftermarket alternators that didn't work. Drained the battery completely and got stranded about 1 mile from home, requiring a jump/charge (30 minutes of charging the battery) to get home. Then I replaced the 2nd aftermarket alternator with a rebuild from Denso, completely charged the battery and haven't had any problems since. Maybe all the above electrical problems put a strain on the gateway computer causing it to fail the way it did? All kinds of weird behaviors start with low batteries and compromised charging systems.

Bmanone,
I thought you've accidentally shorted the system somehow. The bad alternator might have been a suspect
