Default When was your first time?

Got your attention, huh? I'm talking about the first time you let your SC rip. I'm getting a little impatient here; my car just turned 500 miles today (in month and a half!!), and was wondering if most of you waited until the 1K mark to open her up. Manual is not very clear on this issue, and can't remember what I did to my past 3 V8 lexuses. FYI, put 266 miles to bring car home (70-85 mph), and rest in 10-mile rides (a ton of complete heat cycles already). I'm looking for the perfect balance between maximum engine longevity and not developing a lazy engine. My other related question is how often should I open 'er up (after break-in) to maintain a healthy engine: once every 250 miles? 500? Just curious what's your 'exercise' regimen for her.

I do plan to wait until the 1K mark for a quick top-speed run because it's much harder on the engine than a quick flooring... unless somebody convinces me otherwise. This would be right after changing the oil to full synthetic Mobil1 (and OEM filter). I could do it earlier than 1K too!!
Your comments are appreciated.

Hit triple digit speeds with low double digits on the odometer and have continued to do so every chance I get.

I asked my salesman about a "break-in" before I drove it off the lot and he said just be easy on the brakes for a little bit, come back at 1000 miles, hand over the keys in 3 years, and enjoy it as much as you want.

Talking 200 km/hour

In response to when you should let her rip?

Right after I passed the 1,800 km mark for my first initial dealer checkup, I let her rip.

It was late night and I was flying 200 km/hr (that's 125mph for you Yankees!) along Highway 403 towards Hamilton. It was very late at night, no cars on the road except me. It was smooth as silk. No vibrations, no noise, no fear .. unbelievably smooth! The car had way more left in her. My Dodge Stealth R/T would have been shaking by now.

By the way, I ended up approaching another car and slowed down. As I passed him, he looked at me ... it turns out it was one of my students. The next day, he told me that "he saw some wicked sports car with high intensity lamps approaching him that looked like a rocket ship from behind".

Another side note. He said that my navigation screen reflected this very cool glow inside the vehicle making it look like an aircraft cockpit from the outside! Another fringe benefit of coolness we did not anticipate.

Happy driving, but drive safely!!!

Cheers, Nick

I once "raced" an SC430 when I had my Supra. I used quotes because it was a slaughter. I had about 4 bus lengths on it by 120mph. The driver of the 430 was trying to show off to his gal in the car i believe so i had to reel back in that ego.

However, there was a fast SC300 in Austin, but i'll let Clint talk about that.
