You can make a more 'respectable" paperclip tool by buying one and then connecting the two wires. This way you can just plug it in to reset the VSC lights with no soldering required
I made mine out of an elm327. Your way is definitely easier to make up. Mine was half the cost. I keep it in the back seat cubby. It ought to have have been in the tool kit.
There are a couple threads on different variations of the “VSC Reset tool”
the 2002-2005 needed them anytime a code reader was plugged in to the OBDII.
I followed BGW's way for my reset tool. It wasn't a big deal to make, except I had to break out my Soldering iron. The adapter I posted would only need a wiring nut or electrical tape (or even just touching the two wires together when you want to reset)
It is just a more user friendly, non techy, option.
