So on my 2004 the original radio has been replaced/upgraded and the nav door no longer functions. Is there a way to run power to that button to make it work again? I would love to build some sort of little "glovebox" behind it to store sunglasses. Ideas?

is the door motor still there?
is the Nav screen still there?
if everything is still there, just reconnect everything.
also, check the motor with a 9vdc battery to make sure it still works.

I am not sure what all is there, or if it works, I've never seen the door open, I've had the console off and seen the bird's nest of wires in there and am half afraid of tearing it apart and messing something up as it all works good right now except for that upper door.
And, if I fine the wires to the button, will a + and - hookup make it work?
I am not sure it is that simple.
did you open the door to check for a screen?
the two motors are located on top of the screen assembly.
I took mine apart on my 2002 because it didn’t work.

So the motors are part of the screen assembly? Won't work if the screen is not there?
And to me that's some scary stuff pulling that dash apart. And its been cold here so I haven't had a look yet.

the Nav screen and doors are one assembly but the screen can be removed and replaced. There are several members who replaced the screen with a computer and I think a couple put some kind of radio up there.
So to Bgw70,
Warmed up a bit here this weekend so we took the car for a ride, I did push the door open and yes, the screen is still in there.
The buttons for the Nav door are all above the "climate control" unit (not sure what its really called) along with some other stuff, its like the power to that row of buttons has been removed/unhooked, must be some way to re-hook them up yes????

Please remove the climate control and look to see if the see connectors are attached properly.
also look to make sure the wires on the three connectors haven’t been cut.
See pics below,
there are four compression clips holding the climate control in place, just grab it like i did on each side with both hands and gently give it a tug/pull. The face may come loose, if it does, push it back on and readjust your hands. It really is simple.
in the second pic, note the three plugs.
sorry i don’t have a pic of the clips but you could easily find one on eBay to use as a reference.

Very cool, thanks.
It'll be a bit, got some surgery so maybe next week maybe. Unless I get brave this afternoon... I see your bottom door is open, best to do it that way?
I was thinking I would have to take out the console, then the radio in order to get to that climate control unit. This bit of knowledge make the job much easier! Again, thank you very much!

Ok, before I tear into this, This car has an after market head unit (Pioneer), when I pull the climate control unit and one or more plugs are unplugged, might it cause trouble with something else there if I plug it/them back in? Just don't want to screw something up.
