Has anyone replaced the green bulb that is in the ignition (keyhole) shroud? I am trying to get to it because mine randomly turns on, intermittently... Hoping that the bulb is making poor contact. I took off the panel that is under the dash but could not get to the wire that is connected to the bulb.
I could not locate any info using the search function. I found a few threads dealing with ES models with similar ignition, but they just have a panel that pops off.
I hope you get a definitive answer as I have the same symptom, lights up once in a while but mostly not.
I also looked when I had the lower panel under the steering wheel off to replace the heating system servo and didn’t see a way to reach it. In some postings for another model, someone suggested you had to remove the instrument cluster trim and go in that way. Was going to give this a try when I replace my cluster due to poor lighting sometime in the future but hadn’t got there yet.
Perfect. I have the shop manual en route, if it helps, I will let you know!
I disassembled the under-the-dash trim again and messed around with the wires. I think that the black wire is responsible for the bulb. The light worked for about 10 minutes and is now back to non-operational again...
If I remember completely but it wasn't so hard, and not a lot of pieces involve in this procedure.
That big piece of plastic above the knees gotta come out first, then you'll see the access to the light bulb
