Default Thank you Club Lexus members

Just wanted to thank those that contribute on this site. Wife's also very grateful, since its her car.
2003 SC430 120K miles, stock everything.
Just finished up Techstream install to find out what was wrong with the tpms. #1 is dead. Be locating and fixing that next.
Two new knock sensors, wiring too, chewed by varmits.
Rebuilt all injectors.
Reworked front brakes due to vibration and squeek when backing out of driveway. Appears the brakes were put in wrong, pads were reversed, no longer any issues.
New battery.
Car runs great, no issues. Thanks for all the help. I coudn't have done it without you guys!

Jim B.

Did you take them out and send them in for cleaning or did it yourself ?
I'm not sure if I need to clean my injectors. Car's running fine, launched like a rocket, but I only get 15mpg.

If you have a scanner that'll report Fuel Trims you can drive around with your scanner plugged in and watch to see what the trim percentage is. I've heard that anything under/over 15% from nominal is ok. Anything beyond that the computer can't compensate as well and you should have your injectors cleaned. From what I understand outside of the techtron/fuel additive toyota/lexus has a dealer procedure where they disconnect your fuel line in the engine bay a run a special cleaner through the injectors and engine to clean them out. Probably not as good as putting them on a test bench, but just options for you.

I did the injectors myself. The car was pretty clean inside the motor. Thanks to premium fuel, mostly Chevron. The injectors were easy to clean, the Minnie screens were a challenge to remove, but the right tool, minor learning curve, they seemed to be ready for replacement. While out, the injectors were cleaned with the wife’s sonic jewelry cleaner with electrical solution, then light use of air and one of those electric injector opening devices. I found it best to do the cleaning that way. Having the manifold out, I just connected the injectors back into place and bench tested with fuel before the install using air and the device to ensure all looked proper.
