Default Smoothness

So here is what I think must have happened. I dropped the car off at Discount Tire in the morning and picked it up about 5pm. In the mean time, all 35 miles of roads from the tire shop to my house were repaved.

On the old run flats it rode like a wagon, harsh and jarring. On the new 45's, it was smooth. Not quite as smooth as the S-Class airmatic ride, but almost. A real joy to drive.

The tires I ordered Monday were Sentury UHP 40k mile tires to be installed on Friday. Inexpensive ($86) for a car that will take about 10 years to get 40k miles on it. I called Thursday to check if the tires had arrived. They found that the tires had not shipped yet. So they substituted Continental Control Contact Sport ($191) for the same price.

I was chased home by a thunderstorm, so no photos yet. Maybe next week.

Default Photos 245/45/18 tires

Photos of tires.

My driveway is dirt and a mile long and it rained 2 1/2" yesterday.

Not even close to having any clearance issues.

Increases ride height by about 1/2", Duh, they are 1" greater diameter...

At 55mph on the speedo, the car is doing 58.5mph. This tank is all on the new tires, so I will see if there is a difference in actual mpg at the next fill-up.
