Default Lexus radiator install failure after 17 months

Hi,

17 months ago Lexus of Southern California installed a new radiator. Now, another Lexus dealer is now saying the radiator is leaking and needs to be replaced again. What-the-heck! Am I out of "warranty luck"? How do I get Lexus to replace it under warranty. I wonder if the pink stains are from the old leak and they are making an assumption.

Any insights would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Sandler

did they add anti freeze when you were at the dealer?
if not, then it looks like your fluid level is fine. I would wash the red stains off and check for new stains everyday along with checking the fluid level in the overflow tank when the engine is cold.
If they refilled the overflow tank and radiator, you probably have a leak.
Did the previous dealer provide a warranty?

Are you showing any signs of over heating? I would follow BGW's advice unless it was overheating, or the gauge on the dash was higher than normal, or your AC isn't working..

A radiator replacement is pretty simple. If you take it to ant independent mechanic they can fix it pretty easily. But, you might as well look for a Toyota specialist.

Hello,

So, after cleaning the coolant residue off and checking everyday for leaks there are none. And, no further residue is oozing or leaking. The car has run great since the radiator was replaced 17 months ago.

What's interesting about this? Lexus of Northern California simply sent a text message requesting authorization to "replace the radiator" due to a leak. They didn't know Lexus of So-Cal replaced it 17 months ago. Who's surprised ;-).

With appreciation to those who responded,
Sandler
