I picture Chevrolet IMpalas from the 60's with their bodies flexing front to rear....what is the purose and or advantage on a SC430?
I'm also confused by the number (an price and little bitty parts list) my local dealer gave e for struts/shocks=over $2600!? WHat is the ball park for a 2002 in pricing, new or used?
FInally, I'm told don't mess with KYB or coil overs..my query is whether a 2006 or newer suspension set would be retrofittable to the 2002?

Air suspension has many advantages. Just google it the list will be long and have many different opinions based on peoples needs.
The parts for this car are expensive, yep. I would never buy a used suspension part. Struts are expensive and other parts are even more.
Never heard not to use KYB before. Coil overs are mostly for the people looking to change the stance of the car. Can lead to a harsher ride than stock depending on the Quality of the Coilover.
As far as retrofit, anything is possible, but you're already pointing out costs so I'd suggest no. There are plenty of quality parts out there for your year. Search this page.

You are a little all over the place. Is your question about air suspension on an SC430? Or are you just trying to replace the OEM struts with something aftermarket (cheaper) but still good?

the pic below shows the part numbers and price for the OEM shocks. When i did mine, i replaced all of the associated parts, made it very easy for the mechanic.
Get moving before you miss the deal.
