Not that I want to brag about that, because we're taking a tremendous depreciation hit and are not driving a fantastic vehicle, but many of us bought the SC to just drive it under conditions we like (no rain, no blowing dust, etc). I'm one of those, but living in a city which is windy as hell half the time of the year, and most of the rest is freezing, boiling, or raining (or a combination), doesn't give me a chance to enjoy my car too often, and I can't always enjoy the nice days. So yes, I'm sad to say my SC is a typical 'garage queen'.

Anyway, my car has 801 miles, and it's exactly 4 months old, which translates to 200 miles/month, or 2,400 a year. Out of those, 267 were spent to bring the car home from Albuquerque, which was a great ride, even though I had to restrain my right foot. I expect to at least put the usual 3K miles a year (on my 'toy' cars) when the weather turns better.

Let's hear from the other 'garage queens' out there; the good news is I don't think they'll be worse than mine. If I lived in a nice place, that would be waaaay higher for sure.

Later.

Must be nice to live there man, but everything is a compromise in life. I bet many people would rather have my car and live here, so I don't complain. I plan to retire in a nice place though.

Anyway, if we award 'garage queen' status to cars with less than 5K miles a year, you still barely qualify at your current rate.

Just wanted to discuss something different; the board seems awfully slow lately. We don't drive our cars enough to have problems

When I put my SC back on the road this Easter, I will have owned it for 33 months (purchased 7/19/01) and will have driven it 7466 miles. That's about 226 miles a month. This includes 1440 miles to and from my dealer who is 160 miles away.
Four dealer trips - 1K service, 5K service, replace RFs/install spare kit, replace power amp.

Because of the weather around here, I put the SC in hibernation every year between Thanksgiving and Easter, unfortunately.

Hey, we're running neck and neck! I'd have a lot more miles if I had better weather too.
But every time I get in the car, starting with that awesome leather smell (kept alive by Griot's Garage leather conditioner), is worth the wait. And I feel blessed I can have such a fine car.
Even though I'd never own a Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc. unless I win a HUGE lottery jackpot (I'd get a modena 360 6-sp manual, and that's it), I feel our SC doesn't give up any luxury against those ultra expensive icons. Anything over 300 hp is really unnecessary, and only makes us do stupid things every once in a while, like if we were teen agers.
The SC is as much as I can justify in a car, so I'm really enjoying it when I can, and I feel as excited to drive it every time like if it was a Ferrari.

One thing I plan to do before I leave this earth is rent one for a day, preferrably with a buddy, so we can at least say we drove one. And no, I won't do anything stupid.

Good hearing from you, and take care.

> I won't do anything stupid<
Oh, yes you will. It's in a boy's blood.

I caught a piece of a TV sitcom (can't remember the name) starring Michael J. Fox whose sister, with a deadpan matter-of-fact expression, explained, "Guys are always acting stupid. That's normal for them. Girls kind of expect it and live with it."

I don't know if the writing for this series was always this insightful, but I sure am glad I caught this jewel.

Don't want to stray from the subject, Deniska, but is that your silver QX4 in the pic? I have pretty much the same vehicle as a daily work horse. (Which actually helps me keep my GS300 a "garage queen". Unfortunately, my SC430 was not. 15,000 in a year.)

Default 5K- Top Down Only

My SC 430 is one year old and it has 5011 miles. It is in storage now as I only drive the car from 01 APR thru 01 OCT each year. If I can't put the top down I don't drive it.

Deniska ...

From the pic you uploaded, it appears that you live in a relatively populate area. When I lived in town, I always drove my cars all year long. But since I moved to the boonies, I hibernate the SC and use an Outback for the winter.

Here's what greets me when I leave my driveway ...

ooops .... here's the "d" that was supposed to go with "populate" - it fell off.
