haha, you're right, I do live in Florida. Miami to be exact. And I don't have an M in my garage. Only a LS430 and a BMW 7 series. I am not really fond of MB, although I'm not really fond of the 7 right about now (in the process of declaring it a lemon).

Those pictures were taken right after I waxed my car with Zaino by the way.

Everyone on this forum seems to love Zaino. My car is pretty shiny right now...what would you suggest? Wash and Polish?

i just bought the Zaino kit, and used everything that was included ( a few coats of scratch removers, and a few coats of polish, with the z-06 spray in between each one... I think it's the best one that i've used, although it takes forever to complete.

You are right that Zaino is used by many on this board.

MarsB007 did not, however, just wax his car with Zaino, as Zaino is not a wax. That's the whole point of it, and slowly the use of that term will fade as he uses this product more.

Not to get off topic, but it does take some time to get the initial layers on the car (especially if the car is not brand new off the lot), but that time is well spent because Zaino lasts far longer than any wax and subsequent coats take less time and less work than applying a coat of wax. On a black SC430 (like mine) the shine is fabulous and very, very easy to maintain over long periods of time.

Highly recommended. For details, see the zaino brothers web pages.

I have checked out the webpage. Looks like a lot of work and a long weekend! The car looks pretty darn good already, do you think I should still start from scratch or can I get away with just wash/polish?

Only you can determine that, but I would wash it with Dawn to get all the impurities off. Then, clay the car and polish. You probably won't need the swirl/streak remover. You won't believe how smooth your car feels after you clay it. I know it feels smooth now, but try one small spot and feel it with your hand afterwards. Even if you just do a small spot and don't notice any difference, give it a try. I was amazed. I bought mine brand spankin' new and it still felt smoother after the clay bar. If you use Zaino, you won't go wrong. Even if you just wash and polish it. I'm like others though. It does take a long time to do at first, but saves you time in the future. Good Luck!!!

The above post is correct.

You need to get all the wax off the car before you apply Zaino, because Zaino bonds to the paint. Wax will prevent that from happening.

Wash with Dawn, clay, wash with Z7 to get the clay and lube off, then use z2 with ZFX. Do that 3 times as per the ZFX instructions. Use some Z6 in between coats, and bingo. You got the best looking car on the block. Maby in the city.

Have fun.

Sounds good. Are you sure you guys don't own Zaino? LOL. We have a huge love bug problem in FL. Will the Zaino products protect from it?

When I see those little love bugs on the highway I just floor it and zoom right around them. Usually they stay over on the right at about 50 MPH and aren't a problem.

tfischer,

Good one!! LOL. I've never read a study of the effects of love bugs on car care products. I think as long as they don't "love" while on your car's finish it's okay. Maybe they could just do that on the clear bra portion. I would think that the Zaino would hold up as well, if not better, than other products. The kinky S&M love bugs could be bad news though!!!

i just make sure I get a hose and wipe those little suckers right off my bumper as soon as I get where I'm going... if you do that it takes 5 minutes, and you won't have to worry about them baking into your paint.

There is also another product out there... a spray, which you spray on your car, and that forms a protective film, which is easily wiped off along with the bugs. I used to use it on my GS, but since I started using the Zaino on the SC, I don't want to harm the Zaino coat, as I don't know what the effect of that solution is on the Zaino. Either way... just hose them off!

And man, I wish I owned stock in Zaino. That thing is pretty good and pretty expensive. Hopefully the owner will make an announcement here if he's thinking about going public. (Yeah Right!)

My 2 cents. Silver with Ecru is a classy combination.

Hey, what's up guys. newbie..well sorta, I've been lurking for quite a while, decided I should start posting. I'm usually over at MBworld.org

Just had a question, is the Ecru hard to keep clean? Does it get dirty quickly from keeping the top down for too long? Just wondering.
