So I decided to finally install my SAFC-II last nite. (Of course I started like 2 hours before it was time to go to sleep.)
It was taking a while cuz the wiretaps I had were for a thicker gauge wire, so it took me a little while to get good contacts.
I hooked up all the signals first and left the Airflow wire cutting for the end.
Everything else is working: Throttle sensor, RPM, Knock
So I did all the settings and even started the car to make sure I'm getting proper RPM, Throttle, and Knock signals.
So then I decided to cut the airflow wire and connect the AFC (pink wire on ECU side and orange on MAF side)
I read an update on the APEXi website stating that the Lexus SC300 is of the Karmann type.
So I set the sensor type to Karmann and started up the car.
The car started Idling really rough and slight pressure on the throttle would make it sputter.
A little more throttle and the car stalled.
Also, my check engine light was on the whole time.
It was already late into the night and I needed the car the next day, so I undid my last step (reconnected the MAF signal wires as they were) and then left my battery disconnected for a few minutes.
I started the car and thankfully, the check engine light was gone and the car ran fine.
So now my question. For you SC3/4 owners who have done this: Did you set your AFC to Karmann?
Anything you can tell me on what I might have done wrong (or forgot to do)?
If you've done it resently and you happen to remember...was your Aiflow wire a blue color with a stripe?
Last question: What are your knock readings at the suggested 1500 and 2500 RPMS?
I've got:
Around 55 @ 1500 RPM
and 120 @ 3500 RPM
My ECU is chillin there and my car is a mess. I don't want to put it all back cuz I want to finish the job.
Thanks in advance for anything you guys give me.

I installed my safc, using the Karman sensor (94' sc300). I would highly recommend not using t-taps because of contact problems... I spliced and solidered my SAFC-II no problem..

I belive my airflow wire was blue with a stripe.. I have 0 knock.. I dont think you should be getting any! I personally just need to get my SAFC-II tuned on a dyno. No problems at all, anything else i can help with it would be my pleasure! Jeff
