A few questions about the Daizen sway bars:

1. If anyone has had them installed by his Lexus dealer, what was the charge? Some suggested $95, but I don't think a Lexus mechanic would even pick up a wrench for that piddling amount.

2. Apparently the rear sway bar is adjustable. Can anyone tell me what this adjustment does and what the optimum handling/ride setting is?

Can't help you with the first question, although I would hate to pay more then $100 for that job. The adjustable rear sway bar is adjustable to increase/decrease rigidity. But what it really does is give an adjustment for oversteer and understeer. Too rigid a rear sway bar produces oversteer, and your back end will come out.

Adjustable rear sway bars are adjustable via three bolt holes on each end instead of one bolt hole. So you are going to be in the middle holes or the inside or outside ones. I believe the inside holes produce the most tension and rigidity. Mine is set on the most rigid setting only because it's a better match with the Tein CS coilovers and my 10 inch rear wheels. Otherwise, I'd most likely be in the middle holes.

Please let me know what you find out.
I have been told that my dealer has an "OEM equipment only" installation policy.
So while they HAVE the Daizen bars, they won't install them for me!

it varies greatly from dealers to dealers. some of them don't touch aftermarket, some of them do that for you

well just keep in mind, lexus dealership doesn't mean good neither. you need to have one trusted person that's all it takes

I have Sewell for my dealer, and they're very well known for their service. They've been doing it for Cadillacs for years before Lexus existed. But point taken -- not all dealers are good.

BTW, I did get the Daizen sway bars installed by an independent shop on Monday.
(And the independent was great, too. Thanks for the suggestion, Todd!)

Lexus of Bellvue, WA installed mine for $190. No bargain but the convenience and pleasant service is worth the extra $100. They also wash and vacuum your car and give you a free loaner. The sways make a significant improvement.

I need some warranty work done (door panel insulation installation and belt replacement), so I'll also have my dealer install the bars unless the price is outrageous; $190 is okay with me. They're 150 miles away and will give me a loaner. The last time I got an RX300 loaner which I enjoyed so much, that I'm seriously thinking of replacing my Outback with an RX330.

In any case, according to the Daizen web site, the only places one can purchase these sway bars is at participating Lexus dealers. Is that right?

I went to their web site. Unfortunately, it's written so that my browser can't resolve everything (the Go button, for example). I'd expect that their prices would be the same as the Lexus dealers, though. Seems that somewhere I saw a price of $499.99.

We've really enjoyed our RX330. We opted for the "performance package" which gives you an adjustable suspension, adaptive headlights and graphite finished rims, which is a nice improvement. The tech features are really impressive (rearview camera, power open/close rear door, adaptive headlights, etc.). We've owned a lot of SUVs and this one certainly ranks near the top.

Just wish it had a BIT more power at times....
