Another Special Edition SC430 ?
Source: Auto Week
Lexus is to show a specially-built version of its SC430 convertible in Madrid this week, at the Spanish capital's auto show. The SC430 CH has been given a makeover by international designer Carolina Herrera, who says she has been inspired by the glamorous convertibles seen on the French Riviera and Italian resorts such as Capri in the 1950s. It is finished in a subtle dark grey with reddish tints, and has red-stitched black leather upholstery. Herrera has also designed a matching set of accessories. Lexus is keen to target affluent female buyers, and if the concept car receives a positive reception in image-conscious Madrid, will consider producing a limited edition for sale. Perhaps the company should invite the wife of a certain Real Madrid footballer to the unveiling.

Special editions
Unfortunately as far as special edition vehicles go, Lexus only offers cosmetic differences, such as on the Coach Edition on the ES/LS/RX with the perforated leather and "Coach" trimmings, and the SportDesign Edition on the GS/ES/IS with the dark burlwood or black bird's-eye maple interior trim and black pearl badging.
The Pebble Beach Edition for the SC430 is a rare one; I've only seen one in person.

The Pebble Beach SC is rare, and it's the best of the special editions in my opinion.
Here's my wishlist: an SC with 2 option packages:
Ultra Luxury: similar to the one right now, with an even softer ride and elegant wheels.
Sport Package: Active suspension (KDSS), 19" lightweight wheels and tires, manual/automatic transmission, lightweight suspension, upgraded brakes, exhaust REAL CHANGES.

From their site:
The Madrid Show will see the first public appearance of the Lexus SC430 Carolina Herrera. This model proceeds from the agreement signed last spring between this Japanese luxury car manufacturer and the famous Venezuelan fashion designer, intended to produce unique, singular and exclusive products.
And it has not been in vain: this elegant coupe-cabrio, with power sunroof, measuring 4.51 metres long, stands out due to its design features and exclusive equipment. The most significant features on the outside are: chocolate brown bodywork with trims and door handles in matt aluminium, and tinted wind deflector. A new logo has been designed for this model and its doorsteps include an illuminated version of such. Inside, one of the most attractive features is the upholstery of the seats: This is called Testa di moro and features brown and red tones. Also noteworthy is the caramel colour of the roof lining, and the steering wheel and gear lever trimmed in leather, as well as the carpets with their red motif. Mechanically, the model retains the engine of the original SC 430, an eight-cylinder producing 286 hp for a maximum speed of 250 km/h and an acceleration of 0 to 100 in 6.4 seconds.

That Neiman Marcus Edition is my wife's favorite SC so far. She couldn't tell the difference between the PB and regular SC, until I told her the exterior paint was only offered on that edition, darker wood trim, name plate and badging....ooohhhh ahhhh!
I saw a Neiman Marcus Edition on eBay listed for like $55k with the reserve not met. It was being offered by a Lexus dealership on the East Coast. The PB is even more exclusive than the Neiman Marcus, right?

I've seen neither the NM nor PB special edition personally, but from the pics I've seen, neither looks more appealing to me over the regular SC's, they're just different, but not worth a price premium over the standard car IMO.
From the 2 excerpts above, this new limited edition they're showing in Madrid will have a darker shade of color, which I always prefer for the SC430. Red stitched leather sounds good to me too, so I'm looking forward to see how good this will look.

well to me the exterior color of the NMis very appealing, the interior i am not sure about the red though
for the PB, the exterior is ok (not really stand out by a lot), but to me the interior is gorgeous. my wife and i saw it and we fell in love already.
and i agree, paying the price most people pay for those two cars are just way too much. that's why i have my contacts where i can get special editions at a good price
