Seat Replacements

Seat Replacements
After 6 months, still cannot get seating comfortable. Seats too flat, poor bolstering, and telescoping steering wheel obviously designed for short drivers or the "long armed". Has anyone replaced seats with something more appropriate for a sport coupe? Ideally would like to have customizer reshape the seat and back bolsters for more secure feel. Any thoughts?

I have to agree about the seats. I have an 02 model and still cannot find a really comfortable driving position. Too flat, too hard and not enough side support for sure. I would also be interested in any way to improve the seats. I have tried seat covers that provide lateral suppport but it looks a little tacky in such a nice interior. Overall I do like the car, but even the seats in my RX300 are much better.

Include me out of this.
I find the seats fine and very comfortable.
I just returned from an 11 hour drive (New Jersey coast to Ohio) and I feel fine.
With the various adjustments of the seats and the steering wheel, I find it hard to believe that you can't find a comfortable position.
My only "complaint" is that, due to the "back seat," the driver's seat cannot be relinced all the way back, but that would not be for driving confort anyway.

I noticed on the newer models (mine is an 02) the seats can be reclined quite a lot more than the older models. I asked if they could apply this modification to my car and was told that it was not possible. If any one had this done please let me know. Thanks.

Man, those seats are NICE!! They'd look awesome in ecru. I can only imagine how much was the price tag. That car also seems to have a serious sound system back there. And matching wood strips in the middle of the 'rear seat' area. It seems to be customized with good taste, assuming the orange-looking seats were matched to the saddle color (looks that way). Those seats are a perfect match for our cars: sporty but not too aggressive, and very elegant design. Should have come from the factory that way. At least as an option.
I find comfort on the stock seats, but most likely due to my light weight (160 lbs). I expected much better bolstering and support for this kind of car. And even at my modest 5' 10" frame, I have to drive with the seat touching the rear one, so I wouldn't have bought the car if that wasn't possible, like on earlier cars.
As a comment, if I 'set up' the seats properly on my '04, instead of touching the rear seat they just tilt up like 1" before touching, basically acting up like earlier cars. The trick is to disconnect the battery and only slide the seats all the way forward for the memory to work, which leaves the 'anti-rear-seat-crush' feature deactivated. I have both seat backs barely touching the rear seat so I don't mess it up, and memorized as well.
Hey Roofless, if you know where to order those seats, please post it. You never know when somebody here might need such information. I bet they're way cheaper than a stock seat. Thanks.

Info
Don't know much about these seats other than what I stated. You have to contact Recaro directly or go through one of their dealers for a special order. The normal non-leather seat in that model retails for $725 - so what... with Lexus leather and costly install... maybe $3000-$3500 for two seats... just a guess.
Here's the contact info:
