Wonder what the effect of a , say, 2" higher transparent windblocker would be. Up to the level of the tops of the rear seat head supports. There is still a bit more turbulence inside the cockpit with the top down than I like, even with windows up. Has anyone tried this? Wonder if the factory experimented with different heights? Is there any way to ask them?

I was wondering about this last night as I trailed an SLK Special Edition. Admittedly the SLK & SL are two-seaters, so it would be more appropriate, but they have large wind screens directly behind the seats.
I think most of the air that comes across the center console and around the sides of the seats come down from above, not from the rear decklid's turbulence. Then again, I can run in the rain & the back seats don't get wet.
There are screens for BMWs, Miatas, Porsches -- I wonder if a larger one behind the seats would help the SC430. I'd like it on those cooler days. I've found that 55 degrees is about the limit with a jacket before it gets too uncomfortable for me.

I think that an adjustable windblocker would be cool. That way you could change the wind dynamics according to the outside temp. I suspect that the height of the driver makes a big difference with respect to the amount of wind experienced during driving. I'm 5' 8" and I mostly just feel the wind hitting the top of my head when the side windows are up. On occasion there is an unpleasant reverberation to wind which I don't notice if I'm wearing a cap. I'm not sure what conditions cause the reverberation but I suspect it's due to a cross breeze. I imagine that someone who is over 6' might get more of a blast in the face. Is that true?

romini, of course that is the logical thing - maybe with plywood and duct tape. Will eventually get around to it.
umbo, I am 5'8" too, let's try it with the seat at max and min heights.

i am 5'7", i test drove the sc430 and i got no wind at the top of my head. but then i usually drive with the seat set pretty low and lean back a bit, maybe that's why. i guess if i raise the seat up and sit straight, probably i will get wind?
