Hello all,
I have about $42k and will be paying in cash. I would like a black on black with under 30k miles, and have found one for 44,700 (23,000 miles) and one for 45,000(20,700 miles) they are both black on black 2002 Lexus SC 430's from dealerships. I would really feel more comfortable spending the 42k, but could swing the extra (not to mention tax title and license) i intend to purchase this week. Am i getting the best deal? These are not certified, but do come with the remaining warranty. I plan on keeping this car for a long time. Are there certain things i should check about this car? like known problems and see if they have been resolved? any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Cliff

Hi Cliff,
The bumper-to-bumper Lexus warranty is 4 years/50,000 miles. Because the '02 cars were actually introduced mid-way through the '01 model year, some of them will be coming up on one or both of those thresholds soon. Lexus customer service can tell you the in-service date for any car based on the VIN. In my purchasing decision (and I bought privately for a better price), time remaining under the original full warranty was an important factor. Mine was placed in service in April of '02 (nearly an '03) so when I bought it in April of '04 it still had two full years to go. The original bumper-to-bumper warranty is all inclusive. Most after market ones, including CPO, are not.
Good luck. You'll love it.

So anyone??? not really any new developments, I know that i need some type of a full extended warranty. that covers EVERYTHING, i guess i will purchase 7yr/100k mile platinum from Lexus, but the 7 yrs start on the in service date... which only really is what, 3-4 extended years? Ahhhh, the decisions.... still open to suggestions.
