Do you guys notice any significant difference in shifting when the ECT switch is in the Power position? I have really tested it carefully, but I don't notice an obvious difference with daily driving. Also the gas mileage doesn't change at all. Is this just a placebo button?

Where you will notice it is on the highway, with it in the normal setting you can press the gas down quite a bit more and not have it kick down.
That is where I notice the majority of the difference...

From what I know, the switch shifts upward the RPM point at which the transmission shifts gears. If you are just driving around town, you won't notice the difference.
However, if you are at a dead stop with clear road ahead and you step on it and hold the gas pedal to the floor, the difference will be that with the switch "On," the engine will run up to a higher RPM before shifting into the next gear, which gets you to 60 (or 90 or whatever) faster.
It's what we used to call "running it out" when we had stick shifts in our cars.
Cool beans. It's there so you can have some fun once in a while.

I haven't tried it on 'OFF' yet (it's always 'ON'), but it's worse than a Corolla when ON. My car requires almost WOT to downshift, and upshifts much earlier than I'd like. Even at WOT, the shifts occur at 5,500 rpm; well short of redline. And this even after a top-end run. The 'OFF' might even be worse, so it'll stay where it is, but it's definitely disappointing.
The 'power' should be just that, not with the 'intelligence' crap, which by the time you travel any stretch of freeway, the computer reverts back to 'grandma' status.
Later.

Cars behave differently, and that's what boards like this are for.
FWIW, if I hold the gear manually of course I can redline it, like I've done it. It's not a big deal to me.
Have a great weekend.

i wasn't trying to say you are crazy or stupid, i was just saying that it's weird that you can't redline the car since i didn't have any problem doing it on the car that i test drove. i didn't even drew any conclusion from that. maybe you just made one
