Default Snow Tires

An acquaintance is about to purchase an SC430 (which means there will be two in this burg). She plans to drive it all year long which means she'll need snow tires. She ran her SC400 for ten winters using four snows and says she never had a problem. I told her that there were some folks on this forum who have been using their SC during the winters and someone might have a recommendation on what kind of snow tires she should buy.

Any suggestions?

Default bridgestone

I'm a bridgestone fan, so I'll say go with the Bridgestone Blizzaks. As always, you can get a good deal on em at tirerack. Does she plan on going with smaller rims? I don't use my SC in the winter but many of the people that I know that do go with 17's instead of the stock 18's. How much snow is in your area?

In Canada, winters are long and pretty unpredictable, and the extra tire tread on the ground helps alot.

Thanks, herrage ...
I'll pass the information on to her.

>How much snow is in your area?<
Like your area, snow amounts are unpredictable here. We're about 160 miles south of the Canadian border, right on the Pennsylvania state line. We're not subject to the lake effect snow that Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse enjoy, but we do get our share.

I don't use snow tires myself on my SC because I have a small SUV which gets me around just fine in the snow, just with less style. However, I have several friends with rear drive cars who have used the Blizzaks for years, and all of them indicate to me that these are the best snow tires around.

So I hear.

Are your winter treads and wheels still up for sale? Why are you selling the SC? Just curious, how realistic it was to be driven in the winter, with winter tires?
