Default Anyone else had this nav problem?

On the nav screen, my compass heading is frequently off by up to 45 degrees. For example, if I'm headed due N, the system might think I'm headed NW. This causes my position to be incorrectly tracked, which triggers automatic rerouting. After a few moments, the GPS will sense the error and replot my location correctly -- but still facing the wrong direction, and the cycle repeats.

Mine is a 2002, and when I bought it 3 years ago the compass heading was always dead on. Over time it has occasionally gotten "stuck" a few degrees off kilter, but the problem never lasted more than a few minutes. Now it's a constant problem.

One note: Last month the display became garbled, and the dealer replaced the entire nav system (computer and screen). But the compass problem is still there same as before.

I'm sure the dealer will address this, but I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this.

Default Compass and Nav working great

I have an 03 and both compass and nav work great. I am only waiting to see if the gen4 disc has better road info. From time to time mine will show me off the road when I am right on the blacktop. Anyway that is the only problem I hhave had with the nav.

it might sound like a really retarded question... but do you have any magnets around? As from added speakers, or has anyone worked on your car recently?? What I am thinking about is something around the compass got magnetized - therefore giving you a wrong heading. Have them look at it, and try to replace it - worst case scenario.

It might be something as simple as recalibrating the compass. I've heard of the same problem with other vehicles and there was a calibration screen. To fix it, you went out in a parking lot and turned in 3 or 4 circles and it fixed it. Never had a problem with my '03 SC. Get my 2005 LX next weekend hopefully!!!!!
