Jim,
You will need to move the gear selector towards the middle. Open both compartments of the center console. Grab the rear of the panel housing the seat heating controls and pull up and out. You can remove this by disconnecting the wiring harness or setting it aside. This will allow you access to the rearward section of the center panel. Pull this up to disengage the rear portion and then pull the panel toward the rear to disengage the panel around radio. There will be two wiring harnesses that will need to be removed. The first is the button to close the burlwood door. Disengage the clip by taking a pen or screwdriver and pushing it on the left side. It should just pop out. The second clip can be disengaged by squeezing the right male connector.
It seems like alot but I remove this panel all the time because I put three switches in the ashtray as well as some indicator lights for my N20 setup. Hope this helps.
