Default Rims and the SC430

What is the biggest rim that will fit, a 20 or 21?
Reason I ask is I have seen some pics of 20s on the SC, (I like the AutoCouture), but they looked really small once on the car, almost like 18s. They just didnt look right. Even if you look at my CL, it doesnt look like the rims are 20's.
Maybe the key is lowering the car (the SC's I have seen with those 20s)?

Staggered 20" with a deep rear lip and lowering is perfect on the SC, looks in no way small. Car is too short for 21s

i think a 19" wheel with no lip visually looks as large as a 20" with lip...depends on the style you go with, for example my 19" AVS Model 5's look "larger" than other 19's with lips...optical illusion or i'm getting old and my vision is failing me

I agree with you, but many people in this forum love those lips I'll get a set with nice lips too when & if I get a new set of wheels for my car.

same here, don't do 21, that's out of proportion. 20 with deep lip is perfect

if you want one peice no lip, then get 19s

Guy at Rod Millen has one with 20.5's on the rears.
Looks goods - he said no scraping.

They were customs. He had them made.. The guy had done a bit of testing of wheel diameters and rubbing issues. Found that the max he could use on the fronts were 20 inches and 20.5 on the rears without rubbing. That's all I know.

so would it look hot to just drop 20's without a lip nor suspension upgrade...would it give it the whole sl 55 look...since the 20's should slightly get rid of the gap since the overall diameter of the 20s with tires is more than the 18's

I disagree

Everyone thought our showroom 19" rims are 20" - thanks to the 4.5" LIP of the sample wheels

LIP will make the wheel look much bigger, and LIP is made for the LUXURY cars
