Default Shaved fenders

Anyone shave the inners fenders for wider wheels? I am ordering some wheels from Japan and they suggested shaving the inner quarters for their 10"w wheels.

yeah i hae done it on my gs4, together with a lot of members

if you look at the rear fender, you will see a black plastick strip. couple of screws on them.

two "limits" to do this. one is you use a belt sander and rough sand paper and just grind down the fender lip all the way to the screws, so the black stripe can still stay on there, and you will gain bout 5 to 6mm i say

if you want aggressive, take out the whole black stripe (nothing will happen, this is just a cosmetic part) and sand down the whole tab. this will give you like 1/2" clearance.

just be careful and put protections on the body of the car, just in case the belt decide to break

I've done it, but you shouln't have to shave them for 10' wheels,
I was running 10.5's before shaving them,
11's = shave

aggressive offset can cause you to shave teh fender, regardless of width

very true..

i was also told that the japanese cars run with a different hub that allows the cars to run a more aggressive off-set.

I'm running 10 inches in the back and 8.5 inches in the front but you can run 9 with no problems. I have HRE 540R's. No rubbing at all! More than I can say for my sons BMW e30....

like rominl said.. it depends on the offset not the rim width.

hre and iforged are custom offsetted to fit your car without fender mods (until 10" or if you request different).

you can have 7" wide rim with like a -150 offset and you would have to mod your fenders.. or you could have a 12" wheel with a 100mm offset and you wouldn't have to shave.. not that a 100mm offset would clear your caliper, but i'm just saying to give you an idea that the wheel offset plays a bigger role on fitting wheels rather than rim width.

i own a sc300 not sc430 so i dont know about your particular offsets.. but my stock offset is 50mm and stock whel is 15x6.5 if im not mistaken.. i've fitted 20x10 with 285/30 in rear with only minor rubbing because of tire size. if i had 275, i wouldnt have had to roll my fenders.. (hey i've got hre 540s also.. what finish did you get)

yeah i think i have seen pics of your car with the hre before, awesome stuff. got that on my gs4 and i love them

correct me if i am wrong. i know on the gs, i can fit 11 in the back without any fender mods at all. by looking at the sc430 setup, i think with the correct offst you can fit 11 in the back no problem without any mods. 11.5 i am not sure though
