and boring? you must haven't been reading lexus news lately what they have coming

Yes to all of your questions above, including the one about being high, and yes, it's a little bit of a sissy-boy car, but I have coompensated by adding this masculine accessory to my SC430.

Trade In = $39K
Private Party sell = $44K
Retail = $49K
That is WAY more than $4K difference from what I paid for my 2002!

Other points.
MB / BMW quality doesn't compare. Never said it did, in fact said just the opposite. Lexus and Infiniti quality is the best out there.
Sorry, STILL believe Lexus goes too long between facelifts. The SC4XX could have great potential, but it looks dated already. I say that in DC/VA. In SoCal I was sick fo them a year ago.
The mods (especially the ball sac) do help, but it's still not a performance car like an M-series or AMG car. You get the worst of both worlds -- too compliant a suspension and run-flat tire sidewalls. Interior is awesome though and the nav and stereo are peerless. They continue to almost get it right. The stock wheels? They sucked initially and they waited too long to admit it.
I guess some male owners take this personally. Sorry, didn't mean to flame, but the comment I responded to made it sound like the ultimate car. It could be damn close, but Lexus ignores the male car lover that wants performance, luxury and quality.
Too bad really, they could kill the AMG/M car market if they just woke up.

well, indeed lexus woke up already. new GS now, new IS by end of the yr. new LS by end of next year. new engine for the GS next yr. is350 will have comparable power as the m3. at the same time they are talking about GT version of all 3 cars, and the corporate is running ideas on the performance division already. with all that, i don't think the sc is going to stay long

"... you wanna get a bumper dumper."
ABSOLUTELY!
I must have one of those for my Lexus.
Life is too short not to live it up a little. Thanks for that tip.
Best "mod" yet.

1. I don't think Lexus goes to long between facelifts. As a matter of fact, the Lexus designers are reluctant to change as they feel many times they have prefection the first time around. Also, the less change helps with resale values. Luxury cars exteriors are not supposed to change every 2-3 years, if you like that buy a Honda/Acura.
2. The SC is still selling strong for a 70k car that debuted 4 years ago.
3. Femme car? I've seen women in every car possible here in Atlanta. You want a man car, buy a Mustang or Hummer.
4. Lexus stated 12k sales the first year and 10k thereafter. So sales are on target.

Yes, I don't think a luxury model should have a lifespan of less than 6 years, although you probably can't have a 8+ years model run as some of the luxury brands had before, with the stiff competition today.

The SC430 is still a rare sight up here The market for an expensive luxury convertible here is not nearly as big. There's a white,a black & a silver that I occasionally see in the vicinity of my neighborhood, & I haven't seen a red one on the road yet anywhere, the only red one I' ve seen is in a showroom 3 years ago.

and i am glad that lexus is changing the whole philosophy now. bad for the value of the car, but good for the business image
