It has Not been resolved. The V710 remains crippled. The new Treo-650 may work. I'm waiting for it to hit the stores so I can see if it will work. I spoke with Verizon's tech support and depending on who you speak with they will either tell you it works....or not. Go figure

I'll post an updat when I find out. In the meantime, if you have the V710, update the firmware and you can get an inexpensive Nokia to upload the phonebook.

Thanks. Actually, I didn't mention that I just got the V710 over the weekend. Would it already have the updated firmware? Is there a way to tell? On a related note, should I just dump the phone (because I'm well within the 15 day period) and get something cheap until the new phones come out. I don't currently own a bluetooth ready car, but am considering getting one in the fall.

To check the current SW version, go to the "Main Menu ->Phone Info -> Other Information -> S/W Version". The most recent version is "8700-01.40.OR"

The decision to keep or dump your V710 is a matter of personal preference. I found a way around the phone book issue, but I'm still waiting to see if the TREO-650 will work better. If it does, Verizon has agreed to update me to the Treo-650 for $329.00. I may just wait to see what comes out of the class action...perhaps a better deal...who knows.

Default Ring tones during bluetooth

Had Vorizen upgrade the software on the V710. Takes about 45 minutes at a vorizen store. It fixes the ring problems during bluetooth operations. Still no answer on uploading the phonebook from phone to car. I am going to give my wife the 710. She can use it on bluetooth in her nw Acura MDX. I am going to get a Treo650.

Have you confirmed the Treo-650 is not crippled? I got two completely different responses from Verizon regarding this, one said it is the same as the V710, and the other said it “should” be OK.

I'm waiting for the Treo to hit the stores and test it before I plunk down the $$$.

Default V710 caller-id display on lexus bluetooth?

Hi-does the V710 with the maintenance release firmware send caller-id to the Lexus bluetooth? The pdf spreadsheet from verizon says it isn't available (n/a instead of no) but the Lexus nav manual says it is possible.

Unhappy

It seems to...sometimes. I get varied results. Sometimes I don't get any info, sometimes I get just the number, and sometimes I get the name. I haven’t had the time or desire to play with it to see what causes that.

The bigger problem I'm having is with the quality of the outbound signal. The reception is great, but everyone complains that they can't hear me very well or that the sound breaks-up. This only happens when I'm using the BT via the car so I know it’s not the phone.
